About the project

Summary of project idea

Local authorities rely on voluntary, community, faith, and charitable organisations to deliver essential services. However, many face challenges in recruiting and developing new leaders, threatening their long-term sustainability. This project addresses this issue by equipping organisations with the tools, training, and mentorship structures needed for effective succession planning.

Through research and needs assessment, we will identify leadership gaps and tailor solutions. Workshops, mentorship programs, and leadership toolkits will provide practical resources, fostering cooperative leadership and resilience. By supporting peer-to-peer mentoring and governance best practices, we ensure smooth leadership transitions and long-term sustainability.

This initiative aligns with CCIN’s cooperative values through promoting democratic participation and shared responsibility. Our success will be measured by engagement levels, leadership transitions, and strengthened community networks. This project will empower organisations to thrive, securing their future impact.

What are the three key outcomes this project will achieve?

1. Enhanced Leadership and Succession Planning Capabilities:
Through targeted workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs, organisations will build stronger leadership skills, improve governance practices, and develop effective succession plans to ensure sustainability and innovation.

2. Comprehensive Resources and Support Tools
Development of practical resources, such as templates, guides, and best practices, will equip organisations with the necessary tools to create customised succession plans and governance structures, ensuring long-term growth.

3. Strengthened Collaborative Leadership and Community Engagement:
By fostering a culture of collaboration, shared responsibility, and cooperative values, organisations will strengthen their leadership framework and create support networks to promote mutual growth and success within the community
