Cllr Sharon Taylor OBE – Chair of the CCIN & Leader of Stevenage Borough Council

The cooperative councils’ approach of co-designing services with those who are going to use them offers a model both for responding to the Coronavirus pandemic and recovering from it.

The cooperation in our communities and the working between partners has been exemplary, and all our councils will be using that as a foundation stone to build for the future as we move beyond the immediate crisis. This month’s update features some of those examples.

We have seen a wave of support for our incredible care workforce, and this must surely result in re-thinking the essential role they have in our communities and ensuring they are recognised properly and paid appropriately.

You can read more in my Blog for LGA First – Community spirit, cooperative solutions.

Although our Event Calendar has been temporarily put on hold we’re organising two Virtual sessions this month.  The first one will look at some of the Indicators that Members are using to assess the impact of Covid-19 on service delivery, and the second will promote the use of our DPS to Procurement Leads.

Over the last few weeks we have welcomed several new members:
Cheshire West & Chester Council, South Ribble District Council, Public Service Transformation Academy and Development.coop along with three new Supporters.  We now have 69 Members. 50 more than in June 2017.  The future truly is co-operative.

Finally, I’m delighted to share Cllr Louise Gittins’ insights as to why Cheshire West & Chester Council has joined the Network.

Stay safe and look after each other.

Best wishes

Sharon
