CCIN Members’ Update November 2020

  • 4th Nov 2020

Welcome to the November edition of Update

Firstly, I am delighted to have been elected as your Chair for a further term.  When Steve Reed, Jim McMahon and I discussed the idea of forming a Network of Local Authorities who were committed to transforming the way they worked with communities in 2012, we had no idea that the Network would grow to over 75 councils and organisations.  Our members now represent 8.8m citizens and control a budget of £14bn.

The Network’s Annual Year runs from 1 August until 31 July and I had the pleasure of reporting on last year’s activities at our AGM on 8 October.  2019/20 was another phenomenal year for the Network.  Despite an inability to meet in person since March 2020, the CCIN’s profile has continued to grow, and there has been a marked increase in interest in the valuable contribution that the Network’s Members are making to public policy development, particularly in a Post-Covid world.  Read the full report here

We already have lots of events scheduled in the calendar for the next few months including the launch of the Co-operatives Unleashed Toolkit on Monday 30th November.  We’re hosting two webinars next month, the first on 12th November, where we are gathering Best Practice on Asset Transfer, and the second on 26th November, which seeks to encourage members to join a local authority housing group to develop more community-led housing.  There’s more information on these webinars in the Newsletter.

I hope that you enjoy this Member Update.

Stay safe and look after each other.

Best wishes

Sharon
