About the event

‘Get Britain Working’ is the government’s call to action to address unemployment and a range of underlying issues in the labour market related to ill health, skills, and the quality of work.

Every area—led by Combined Authorities (where they exist) or groups of local authorities (where they do not)—has been asked to produce its own local Get Britain Working plan. Last month, the DWP published guidance on what it expects from these plans and when.

This webinar will explore what areas are doing to produce their plan. Key questions will include:
• How should you produce the plan and vision for your area?
• How can you work with local stakeholders to change the conversation around work, health and skills and develop a unified understanding of priorities?
• How should you go about setting short-term goals and long-term ambitions?

Expert guests will join MV’s John Copps to discuss their emerging local plans. The panel includes representation from a mature Combined Authority and a local authority not part of a Combined Authority.

Our guests are:
• Nic Witton-Dowd, Assistant Director, Education, Work & Skills, Greater Manchester Combined Authority
• Judy Gibbs, Head of Skills & Employability, Worcestershire County Council
