CCIN Members’ Update December 2017

Huge thanks to the 17 Member Councils that were represented at our first Strategy Session held in Birmingham on 20 November.  It was a pleasure to see so much collaborative work taking place and I was particularly pleased to experience the energy, ideas and passion for co-operating from members and officers. There is a palpable determination and belief that  the co-operative values and principles can make a real difference to the communities we serve and I am determined to capture and build upon this enthusiasm going forward.

Whilst in Birmingham we were fortunate to hear a presentation from John Montes, from Croydon Council on the CCIN Housing Commission on Community-Led Housing.  This ‘preview’ was in advance of its soft-launch at the first National Community-Led Housing Conference on 27 November.  I was privileged to share a platform at the Housing Conference with Councillor Tony Newman, Leader of Croydon Council, who has chaired and led the Commission, and to use the opportunity to showcase some of the work of the Network.
