Chair of the CCIN
Leader of Cheshire West & Chester Council
In March, a joint meeting of the Executive Oversight Committee and Values & Principles Board approved funding for this year’s Policy Labs. We had some excellent bids from across the country, and for the first time, we were over-subscribed. Thank you to everyone who submitted a Bid, and congratulations to all who were successful. The successful Bids can be found below.
We have recently exhibited at the Welsh Labour Conference in Llandudno and the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) conference in London. Thanks go to, Cllr Clare Gamble from Billingham Town Council, who supported us at the NALC Conference. We also held an event in Westminster to recognise and celebrate our Honorary Vice Presidents.
The chairs and vice-chairs of the Executive Oversight Committee and Values & Principles Board have met to forge closer working across the governance structure where and hope to increase the participation of all members in our strategy and action planning.
I’m pleased to welcome two new Members, Bury Council and LocalGov Drupal. Find out more about all of these stories, along with news from Birmingham, Preston and Trafford in this month’s edition.
Finally, I’m delighted to announce that the 2023 Annual Conference will take place in Sunderland on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd November. It will be our first conference in the North East and one where we know we will get a warm welcome. Sunderland City Council will host the two-day event, which will involve cultural entertainment and a tour of the city, including the fabulous Riverside Sunderland development.
I hope that you enjoy this edition of Update.
Best wishes
Louise
